In 2004, the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) was able to increase traffic revenue by an overall 3.1% to CHF 7.8 million, thanks to a significant increase in the group travel business. In contrast, the Schynige Platte Railway, also owned by BOB, did not meet expectations in 2004: in comparison to the previous year, traffic revenue dropped by 7.3% to CHF 2.7 million. | |
The event of the year was the realization of Railway 2000 (Bahn 2000) for the change of timetable of 12 December 2004. In addition to the dual-track stretch Wilderswil-Zweilütschinen, which has been in operation for several years, the railway shuttle service, with new rolling stock, forms the core of the modernized BOB. As well as Railway 2000, further major long-term projects were concluded with the completion of the cogwheel conversion on the entire section network and the implementation of the ZSI 127 railway safety system.
Once again, the Bernese Oberland Railway has had a good start to the year. Up to mid-May, frequency increased by 17% compared to 2004. The Schynige Platte Railway will begin the season on 28 May. Manuela Seeli and Roger Scherer, our new tenants at the mountain hotel, look forward to your visit.
The BOB AGM will take place at 14.00 hrs on 15 June 2005, in the Gemeindesaal Hohsteg, Lauterbrunnen.
