The Bernese Oberland Railways AG operates a railway service from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald and a mountain railway from Wilderswil up to Schynige Platte. Today it has a share capital of CHF 12,341,000 owned mainly by the Federation and the Canton of Berne. Within the framework assigned to it by the authorities, namely providing a public service to various localities in the Eiger Mönch & Jungfrau Region, the railway receives payment from public funds.
