Mürren

Mürren (1'650m)

The charming mountain village of Mürren is located at 1650 metres above sea level in the Jungfrau Region. The former Walser settlement has a population of around 400 and counts as the highest-altitude permanently inhabited village in Canton Bern. From Lauterbrunnen, the aerial cableway and mountain railway lead past the cascading waterfalls of the Lauterbrunnen Valley to the heart of this idyllic village. Mürren sits on a car-free sun terrace that affords stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau and is an insider’s tip for families and anyone wishing to rest and recharge. Families with children will be pleased to find playgrounds and picnic spots.
Some 200 km of marked hiking trails lead past numerous waterfalls and sightseeing attractions and also offer unparalleled views of the mountain world across the valley. Theme trails, such as the Flower Panorama Trail are an ideal way of exploring the surroundings. The fixed-rope route between Mürren and Gimmelwald awards fascinating and breathtaking views deep into the Lauterbrunnen valley, as does the 80-metre-long Nepal bridge. More challenging tours lead into the nature reserve at the rear of the Lauterbrunnen valley or through the Sefinental valley and over the Sefinenfurgge Pass into the neighbouring Kiental valley.
