The coin, designed by Swiss artist Benno K. Zehndert, was issued on 19 January 2012 to mark the centenary of the opening of the Jungfrau Railway on 1 August 1912. The coin will be available uncirculated and polished in a presentation case. The Jungfrau Railway centenary coin closes the series of coins on Swiss mountain railways.
