Snow, sport and spaetzli
Yesterday, Sunday, 107 teams started in the Rivella Family Contest in the Kleine Scheidegg ski region. The fun race had to be relocated further down the slopes because of strong winds.
The initial plan was to hold the Rivella Family Contest race on the Mittelegg piste near the Fallboden chairlift, but because of the imminent onset of the Föhn wind, the organizers decided to relocate the race lower down, with the start on the famous Lauberhorn race piste below the Kernen-S. A total of 107 groups competed in the giant slalom in the sheltered Langentreien section. The teams consisted of three to five people, with children and adults curving around the gates together. The time was stopped when the last person in the team crossed the finishing line. The winning team was the Zurbrügg family from Reichenbach, followed by the Glenck-Eymanns from Gasel and the Gempelers from Schmitten. The three best-placed teams were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals on the podium. But even the less speedy skiers and snowboarders in the Rivella Family Contest didn’t miss out. A village was set up on Kleine Scheidegg, where all participants were served a spaetzli dish, games were available and attractive prizes drawn.
