Maintenance train collides with three stationary carriages
During the night of 24 May, a maintenance train of the Bernese Oberland Railway (BOB) crashed into three stationary carriages at Zweilütschinen railway station.
Bernese Oberland Railway personnel were working on repairs to a level crossing in Lütschental. For as yet unexplained reasons, the unmanned maintenance train needed for the work began to travel downhill. The train crashed into three coupled carriages standing in a siding at Zweilütschinen railway station. The incident took place at 23.00 h. One person who was cleaning one of the three carriages was slightly injured. The level of material damage is not known at present. It was not necessary to suspend operations of the Bernese Oberland Railway, which is running to timetable.
