Schynige Platte – Railway Romance + Mountain Majesty

Those visiting Schynige Platte with the cogwheel railway will feel transported back to the days of belle époque. The nostalgic railway takes 50 minutes to travel up the 7 kilometre stretch. The wooden benches in the carriages and the rolling stock from the 19th century recall a bygone era.

During the journey and once at the top, visitors enjoy fantastic views of the Eiger, Mönch & Jungfrau. Schynige Platte is the departure point for very popular mountain hikes. It is also the site of the Botanical Alpine Garden, home to around 600 species of Alpine plants.
