Schweiz aktuell vom 01.08.2011 To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first ascent of the Jungfrau, the TV programme, ‘Schweiz aktuell’ highlighted the masterly achievement of brothers Johann Rudolf and Hieronymus Meyer. Who were these two pioneers from Canton Aargau, who in 1811 became the first climbers to scale a 4000-metre-high mountain in Switzerland?

Schweiz aktuell vom 03.08.2011 ‘Schweiz aktuell’ accompanied mountain guide Oskar Gertsch to the summit of the Jungfrau. The group of climbers ventured up to 4258 metres above sea level kitted out with historic equipment.
The climb to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the first ascent of the Jungfrau took place with 20 roped parties on 3 August 2011. ‘Schweiz aktuell’ followed the festivities in Wengen over three days.

Starnacht vom 21.11.2009 Monique and Sascha Ruefer presented the first ‘Starnacht from the Jungfrau Region’ TV spectacular with international stars, exciting guests and wonderful winter images from the Bernese Oberland.

2009 - Cricket at 3545 metres altitudeTrailer

On 15 August 2009, the Jungfraujoch was transformed into a cricket pitch. The national teams from Great Britain and India played a friendly match on the Top of Europe. Amongst the players was Indian Cricketer of the Century, Kapil Dev and Alvin Kallicharran, who captained the British team. The Indian national team won by just four runs.
