Halfpipe in Grindelwald to open before Christmas

The only halfpipe in the Bernese Oberland will be available at Grindelwald-First right on time for the festive season. At the opening of the Pro Park on Saturday, 23 December 2017, Olympic snowboarding champion Gian Simmen will be there in person to show off some tricks. For the first time, a 15x15 metre air cushion is available for trial jumps.

The jumps and handrails in the Pro Park at the Bärgelegg ski lift in the Grindelwald-First area are even bigger and more varied. Thanks to the early snowfall and the cold temperatures of the past few weeks, Jungfrau Railways is able to provide its winter sports visitors with a wide-ranging freestyle offer at the beginning of the Christmas season. From Saturday, 23 December, the Halfpipe in world cup format will be ready and open to all visitors. Former Olympic snowboarding champion Gian Simmen will be there to personally test the newly shaped pipe.

Snowpark for beginners and pros
In addition to the halfpipe, experienced freestylers have access to a Pro Park at the Bärgelegg ski lift. For newbies, the beginner and warm-up park on the Oberjoch offers the opportunity to try out jumps and tricks for the first time. A 15x15 metre jump cushion will be set up for the first time, which gently catches daring winter athletes after their test jumps.

During the festive season, there are excellent slopes in the Grindelwald-Wengen ski area. The valley ski runs from Kleine Scheidegg to Grindelwald and Wengen and from First to Grindelwald are open. At the same time, fantastic tobogganing and winter hiking are offered across Grindelwald and Wengen.
