Continued good slope conditions and winter sports possible until 25 April 2021

The slope conditions in the Jungfrau Ski Region around Kleine Scheidegg continue to be excellent. With the snowfall today, Monday, there was another layer of fresh snow. Jungfrau Railways has therefore decided that the winter sports facilities around Kleine Scheidegg will remain partly open until 25 April 2021.

By Wednesday at the latest, the slopes and lifts in the Kleine Scheidegg area should be shining in the sun again. The winter season in this area of the Jungfrau Ski Region will therefore be extended until 25 April 2021. The Eiger North Face and Wixi chairlifts will be in operation the whole time during this period with an extensive range of slopes. Other chairlifts, such as Lauberhorn or Arven, will also be open depending on demand and weather conditions.

The Eiger North Face, Wixi, Lauberhorn and Arven chairlifts and the Mettlen valley slope Newswill be in operation until 18 April 2021, while the Honegg chairlift will operate from Thursday to Sunday.

The best way to find out which lifts and slopes are open is to check the information on the website: https://www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/live/slope-data/

Jungfrau Railway to run continuously

Due to demand, the Jungfrau Railway will now also run during the cable shortening work on the Eiger Express tricable gondola. To this end, the planned maintenance and conversion work will be organised differently. This means that the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe will also be continuously accessible from 26 April to 7 May. During the week, the journey to Kleine Scheidegg will be made by the Wengernalpbahn (WAB) via Grindelwald/Grindelwald Grund, at hourly intervals. On the weekend of 1–2 May, the Eiger Express will also be in operation.

Between Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg, the WAB will suspend operations from Monday, 26 April 2021, until Friday, 7 May 2021, for the purpose of concentrated maintenance on the track and rolling stock. Between Lauterbrunnen and Wengen, the WAB will continue to operate daily at half-hourly intervals according to the timetable.

Maintenance work will be carried out on the WAB route on the Grindelwald side from 10 May 2021 to and including 21 May 2021. Therefore, the WAB will not operate in this period. The Eiger Express will then be in operation again every day.
