Grandiose view of the largest glacier in the Alps

117 metres above the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe offers you a unique experience. An incredible panorama lies before you, with glaciers, four-thousand-metre peaks and distant views as far as neighbouring Germany, France and Italy. Deep beneath you, the Great Aletsch Glacier spreads out: the largest and longest glacier in the Alps. You have to stand upon it to get an idea of how huge the ice mass is. Stretching over 20 kilometres, it covers a surface area of around 80 square kilometres. It's not for nothing that this icy wonder is the heart of the Jungfrau-Aletsch protected area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Two dark lines can be seen along the entire length of the ice stream. These are the two medial moraines of the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Did you know that…
the Great Aletsch Glacier weighs 10 billion tonnes? If it were to melt, everyone on the planet could be supplied with one litre of water a day for 3.5 years.
