Plan & book

Sledging enthusiasts have to pull their sledges behind them for a whole two and a half hours before they can experience “Big Pintenfritz”, one of the longest toboggan runs in Europe. The start on the Faulhorn (2,680 metres above sea level) can only be reached on foot from First. The ascent is long, but the final descent to Bussalp is fantastic. In good snow conditions, sledging enthusiasts travel as far as Lochsteinen, ascending over 1,000 metres in altitude before taking the bus back to Grindelwald. Provided they don't get sidetracked, for example when stopping off at the Bussalp mountain restaurant. This is how Fritz Bohren, aka “Pinzenfritz”, is said to have fared: It is said that the former proprietor of the Faulhorn Restaurant regularly hung out in a pub after sledging.
The current live status of the Big Pintenfritz as well as all other hiking and sledging slopes can be found in the slope data.
