Catherine Mühlemann graduated in german studies, constitutional law and media studies from the University of Berne in 1993 and later completed further training in marketing at the St. Gallen Management Centre and as a qualified PR consultant at the SAWI Academy for Marketing and Communication. She started her career as a media officer at Schweizer Fernsehen DRS (1994–1998) and then Head of Programmes at TV3 and a member of the Executive Board (1998–2001). She then took on various management roles at MTV Network/VIACOM, including as CEO of MTV Central & Emerging Markets and CEO of Viva Media AG (2001–2008). This was followed by entrepreneurial activities as a partner of Andmann Media Holding GmbH (2008–2014) and as co-owner of Bohème Living GbR (2014–2020). She has been the owner of NI FRAVI Group GmbH since 2020 and works for herself in the field of e-commerce and hospitality. From 2011 to March 2025, she was also member of the board of Switzerland Tourism.
