Grindelwald is looking for new kings and queens

On Saturday, 5 March 2016, the popular downhill race "King of the First Hill" takes place for the eighth time at Grindelwald-First. Now candidates can also compete for the title in the FUN category. Costumes are preferable.

The downhill race starts on Saturday 5 March 2016 at approximately 5 pm at the Oberjoch summit station. There are individual starts in this title competition. The route of around 8 kilometres to the destination in Stählisboden can be freely chosen. There are only a few check gates along the stretch that must be passed. The incline is 1,300 metres. A course visit shortly before the race is worthwhile, so as to become familiar with the piste.

The eighth year of the "King of the First Hill" brings a brand new opportunity. Now participants can compete for the title in the FUN category. The competitor with a running time closest to the average running time of the entire category receives a prize. Costumes are preferable.

Ranking announcements take place after the race at the "Bus Stop Après Ride Bar" in Stählisboden. At about 7:30 pm, the king and queen of the First will be chosen. The fastest of the men and women skiers will each receive a pair of Salomon skis. For snowboarders, there is a Kessler snowboard that can be won by the first place finishers in the men's and women's category. There are prizes valued at a total of over CHF 8,000 for the fastest racers.

Anyone 18 years or older can participate in the race. The entry fee is CHF 40 per person. There is also a team championship, consisting of at least three skiers. The fastest three times will count. Registration is possible until 28 February 2016 at www.jungfrau.ch/firsthill.
