Oliver Hammel takes over operational management of Jungfrau Railways

Today, Friday 13 June 2025, Oliver Hammel is taking over the operational management of Jungfrau Railways. He succeeds Urs Kessler, who retired on Thursday after 38 years with Jungfrau Railways and 17 years at its helm.

Following the induction programme, Oliver Hammel is now looking forward to getting on with his new role. “During my induction, I got to know people with a wide variety of backgrounds who put their heart and soul, as well as extensive expertise, into the success of Jungfrau Railways every day.”

Many strategic projects, such as the renewal of the First Cableway or the construction of the Hintisberg alpine solar plant, have been initialised and are well underway. “We will continue to work on these projects in the future and ensure the long-term and sustained success of the company,” explains the 42-year-old.

As is customary for such roles, Oliver Hammel will not make any public statements until he has been in office for around 100 days. This will be on Thursday, 28 August 2025, as part of the announcement of the Jungfraubahn Holding AG’s half-year figures.
