Planning permission for the hotel at Interlaken Ost railway station submitted

Planning permission has been submitted for the hotel at Interlaken Ost railway station. The project is being led by BAULINK AG as the project developer and by Berner Oberland-Bahnen AG (BOB) as the land owner. The basis for this is the legally binding local development plan, which enables the site to be developed further.

This marks the next stage in the development of the site at the Interlaken Ost railway station. “The planning requirements have been clarified and the planning application has been submitted – this means the groundwork has been laid to take the project into the next phase”, said Urs Hoffmann, CEO of BAULINK AG. Oliver Hammel, CEO of Jungfrau Railways added: “At Interlaken Ost, we have an ideal site with direct public transport links. This hotel will also make a significant contribution to the appeal of the entire Jungfrau Region.”

200 rooms and approx. 400 beds

The plan is to build a hotel with around 200 rooms and approximately 400 beds. At the same time, existing facilities at the site will continue to operate and will be specifically adapted – among other things, the Bike-and-Ride facility will be retained and reorganised to provide around 200 bicycle parking spaces. The Park and Ride facility will now be located underground in the car park, with direct access to the station underpass. There will continue to be a parking lot provided for long-term users.

At present, no definitive information can be provided regarding who will operate the hotel in future. Discussions with international operators are at an advanced stage.

We will provide further information about the start of construction at a later date.
