The Kleine Scheidegg station restaurant will re-open in December.

Jungfrau Railways will take over the operation of the Kleine Scheidegg station buffet at the end of October 2017. The restaurant will be temporarily closed from Monday, 30 October 2017 in order to prepare it for the winter season. On Saturday, 2 December, the Kleine Scheidegg station restaurant will re-open, welcoming visitors with a new gastronomic concept.

After more than a quarter of a century, the catering operation of the Schärer family at the Kleine Scheidegg station buffet is coming to an end. As they are pursuing new direction in catering, Jungfrau Railways will take over management of the business and all the existing staff at the end of October 2017. The Kleine Scheidegg station restaurant will be closed from Monday, 30 October 2017 for a short period of refurbishment. At the very start of the winter sports season, Jungfrau Railways will re-open the business on Saturday, 2 December 2017 and indulge their guests with a new gastronomic concept. Guests will be informed about the culinary options and new look on the occasion of the opening.  

The Restaurant Eigernordwand on Kleine Scheidegg will always be open during the temporary closure of the restaurant in November.

Strategic reorientation

In the medium term, the Jungfrau Railway Group is following the strategy of developing in the direction of an integrated leisure and service company. In the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe business segment, the catering will be gradually integrated by the end of 2019 with the independent restaurant companies on Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. This constitutes a central component in the value chain of tourist excursions.
