Herrenweg is temporarily closed to traffic

There will be full operation on the construction sites of the V-Cableway from Monday, 18 June 2018. Herrenweg has to be stabilised for material transport along the route of the Eigerexpress tricable gondola. Therefore, it will be closed to traffic from 20 June to 1 July 2018.

From July 2018, for the construction of the Eigerexpress tricable gondola, vehicles will drive on Herrenweg to Kleine Scheidegg to transport the necessary construction site material. The path has to be stabilised due to heavy loads. The works will last from Wednesday, June 20 until Sunday, 1 July 2018. The Mettlen – Kleine Scheidegg section will be closed to all traffic during this time. The restriction on accessing the old road via Losingerfuhre remains unchanged. Kleine Scheidegg can be reached by the Wengernalp Railway (WAB).

Construction site traffic from 2 July
Herrenweg will be open to traffic again from 2 July 2018. However, construction site traffic is expected on this section from July to August. We ask all road users to exercise appropriate caution and mutual consideration. After commissioning of the goods lift at the end of August 2018, there will be no more transport by road. Up to Salzegg, all material will be delivered by the WAB from this point in time and from there reloaded onto the goods lift to the Eiger Glacier. We thank all of those concerned for their understanding.
