On Sunday, 16 December 2018, the pre-sale for the Top4 skipass at the price of 666 Swiss francs will end. Thanks to strong demand shortly before the end, the result from the previous year was exceeded. A total of 38,000 winter sports enthusiasts took advantage of the special offer.

With the delivery of the new BKW transformer station to Grindelwald Grund, an important milestone in the V-Cableway project can be realised before Christmas. This clears the way for the old transformer station to be dismantled in spring 2019 and for the V-Cableway to be built in good time. The new transformer station will ensure Grindelwald’s entire power supply from April 2019.

From Saturday, 15 December 2018, Grindelwald and Wengen will be offering continuous winter sports operation. In addition to an extensive range of slopes, guests will find attractive trails for winter walking and sledge rides available from next weekend.

Jungfrau Railways has bought Pension Gydisdorf in Grindelwald with effect from 1 January 2019. The goal is to secure the long-term access to the First Railway from Dorfstrasse with the purchase of land.

On the weekend of 1/2 December 2018, the winter sports season begins in the skiing areas of Grindelwald and Wengen. Thanks to technical snow-making and good conditions for piste grooming in recent days, the first facilities and slopes can be opened.

On Saturday, 6 April 2019, British singer-songwriter and pioneer of soulful pop rock James Morrison will perform in the snow at the world’s highest open-air festival. The successful Swiss band Krokus will make a stop on their farewell tour on the Kleine Scheidegg. DJ Antoine and Ritschi will also be performing at SnowpenAir 2019. Advance booking begins today, Thursday, 1 November 2018.

On Thursday, 4 October 2018, golf star Rory McIlroy played on the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. The four-time major champion proved his accuracy on the especially built glacier golf course. He was challenged by three young Swiss talents.

More than 36,000 Top4 Sportpasses sold in winter 2017/2018: After a successful launch, the four largest Bernese ski resorts want to beat this record and start pre-sale for the second season in early September. The joint winter sports subscription for Adelboden-Lenk, Gstaad, the Jungfrau ski region and Meiringen-Hasliberg and Gstaad will be available again for CHF 666 from 16 December 2018.

The Jungfrau Railway Group can look back on an encouraging first six months of 2018. High demand from Asia, good slope conditions and consistently good weather had a positive effect on the operating results. The operating income was up 8.7% on the previous year to CHF 100.2 million. In the first half-year period, 466,300 visitors travelled to the Jungfraujoch. This is 0.4% more than during the same period the previous year and is the best ever result.

Golf know no boundaries. This is proven by the new Hole in One from Omega on the Jungfraujoch. In the eternal ice at 3,454 metres above sea level, friends of the world-famous sport can improve their accuracy this summer and win an Omega Seamaster Golf Edition.

Construction work on the V-Cableway has been in full swing since mid-June 2018. Work has already started on all of the sub-projects. The current construction site information contains a list of the most important construction works of the coming weeks. An overview plan (see image 2 of the communication above), where the individual measures are precisely put into place.

Today, 3 July 2018, the official ground-breaking ceremony for the V-Cableway took place in Grindelwald. After more than five years of planning, the machines were put into place in mid-June. Shortly thereafter, construction started on the project costing 470 million Swiss francs.

At the start of the World Cup in Russia, Jungfrau Railways and the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich are launching a special offer for their guests. After the BAV issued planning permission for the V-Cableway on 31 May 2018, Pro Natura and the Swiss Foundation for Countryside Conservation signed a complaint waiver today, 8 June 2018. This means that nothing now stands in the way of the realisation of the V-Cableway project.

After more than five years of planning, the V-Cableway is about to be built. The Swiss Federal Office of Transport (BAV) issued planning permission for the entire project yesterday, Thursday, 31 May 2018. This will ensure the timely launch of the Grindelwald-Männlichen gondola cableway in December 2019. The tricable gondola Eigerexpress will be opened at the end of 2020.

Just in time for the Whitsun weekend, Jungfrau Railways, in cooperation with Mürren Tourismus, will open the new Detective Trail from Grütschalp to Mürren on Saturday, 19 May 2018. For young and old detectives alike, a treasure chest with instant prizes awaits at the destination in Mürren.

Berner Oberland-Bahnen AG earned a transport revenue of CHF 17.3 million (+8.1%) and an annual profit of CHF 2.7 million in 2017. In the reporting year, the depot in Zweilütschinen and the new rolling stock were successfully put into operation.

Interlaken's home mountain will be celebrating Swiss tradition this year. From 1 May to 28 October 2018, visitors can look forward to live folklore entertainment on Harder Kulm every evening.

The Jungfrau Railway Group can look back on a strong financial year of 2017. It generated an operating income of 193.8 million Swiss francs. This represents an increase of 14.6 per cent on the previous year. At the same time, it is the highest turnover ever generated.

9,500 tickets are gone. This means that this year's SnowpenAir concert is completely sold out. On Saturday, 7 April 2018, Amy Macdonald, Mark Trauffer, Marc Sway and rapper Julian will provide musical fireworks in front of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Adelboden-Lenk, Gstaad, the Jungfrau Ski Region and Meiringen-Hasliberg have launched the Top4 Sportpass this winter. After a successful launch with 36,200 sold in advance, the offer will continue unchanged for the upcoming winter sports season 2018/2019.

From Good Friday to Easter Sunday, Grindelwald turns into a party village for young and old to mark the end of the winter sports season. Live bands, egg tapping, events on and off the slopes as well as the largest treasure hunt in Switzerland with prizes worth 20,000 Swiss francs: this is the second edition of “The Winter Final” – the end of season finale in the glacier village and the Grindelwald-First ski area.
