In the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site

It is considered the coolest hotspot in the Alps: the glacier plateau, the vantage platform on the Jungfraujoch. There you can enjoy a panoramic view over the Aletsch Glacier and the surrounding four-thousand-metre peaks, with clear views as far as the Central Plateau and neighbouring countries. The sublime mountain world with the largest contiguous glacier system in the Alps was included on the UNESCO World Heritage List 20 years ago as the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch. Jungfrau Railways co-initiated the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also a member of the foundation behind it. This World Heritage Site is one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the Alps and, with an area of 824 km², encompasses almost the entire Bernese High Alps – and right in the middle of it the glacier plateau on the Jungfraujoch.

Did you know that…
deep below the glacier plateau, the Swiss Mountain Single Malt Whisky “Ice Label” is matured at a constant -4°C in an ice grotto at 3,454 metres above sea level. In other grottos, white wines and balsamic vinegar mature.
