Grindelwald and Wengen start winter sports season

On the weekend of 1 and 2 December 2018, the winter sports season begins in the ski resorts of Grindelwald and Wengen. Thanks to technical snowmaking and good conditions for piste preparation in the last few days, the first lifts and pistes can be opened.

The cold nights of the current week were ideal for snow-making and made it possible to prepare some slopes in the Grindelwald and Wengen areas. Grindelwald and Wengen can thus start the winter sports season on time for the first Advent weekend.

Skiing in front of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau

The fresh snow of the last few days has created a wintery atmosphere at 2000 metres above sea level at the start of the season. Next Saturday and Sunday, 1 and 2 December 2018, the two chair lifts Arven and Lauberhorn will start weekend operation.

Winter Hiking and Adventure

Not only for skiers and snowboarders the start of the winter sports season is just around the corner. In the Grindelwald and Wengen areas, the Kleine Scheidegg to Wengernalp winter hiking trail will be open this coming weekend. On Grindelwald-First, the First Railway for excursion traffic with the adventure offers First Cliff Walk, First Flieger and First Glider is in continuous operation.
