Heavy transport for the V-Cableway: Transformer station delivered

With the delivery of the new BKW transformer station to Grindelwald Grund, an important milestone in the V-Cableway project can be realised before Christmas. This clears the way for the old transformer station to be dismantled in spring 2019 and for the V-Cableway to be built in good time. The new transformer station will ensure Grindelwald’s entire power supply from April 2019.

The 42 tonne transport will take place on Tuesday, 18 December 2018, by road. The timetable is as follows:

Transport times, 18 December 2018
- Departure from Rohrbach at around 7.00 h
- Passes through Thun at around 8.30 h
- Planned arrived in Grindelwald between 10.00 and 10.30 h

The passage by the Staldenkurve (just before Grindelwald) and the unloading in Grindelwald Grund (by rail) should be especially interesting. For Jungfrau Railways, a photographer and a filmmaker will record the transport on the last section of the route as well as the unloading on site. Photos and footage will be available on www.jungfrau.ch/en-gb/corporate/v-cableway-project/project/ afterwards.
