Sun, snow and celebrations at SnowpenAir

British singer-songwriter James Morrison wowed the SnowpenAir crowd on Saturday, 6 April 2019, with his soulful yet smoky voice. Krokus, on their farewell tour, got things going with their power rock. DJ Antoine took care of the party atmosphere at the penultimate SnowpenAir.

Today, Saturday 6 April 2019, it was an early rise for all lovers of the Bernese dialect pop. By 11 h, local hero Ritschi was already enthralling his fans at SnowpenAir. With their classic tracks, legendary Swiss rock band Krokus inspired the crowds on the Kleine Scheidegg for the last time as part of their “Adios Amigos” farewell tour.

As headliner, British singer-songwriter James Morrison wowed over 6,000 concertgoers with soulful yet smoky pop-rock songs from his new album, “You're Stronger Than You Know”. The crowd also sang along to older chart hits such as “Broken Strings” or “You Give Me Something”.

Under a bright blue sky, DJ Antoine ensured a party atmosphere at over 2,000 metres above sea level. When he played his international hits such as “Welcome to St. Tropez” or “Ma Chérie”, it started to feel like summer.

After-party and perfect pistes
From 17 h, the after-party with DJ Marlo from Panama got underway. Thanks to the large quantities of fresh snow over the last few days, the SnowpenAir fans who brought their skis were able to benefit from excellent piste conditions as well as the valley runs to Grindelwald and Wengen. The Kleine Scheidegg ski area is open until Easter Monday, 22 April.

Final SnowpenAir
Over 250 tonnes of material were transported by the Wengernalp Railway to Kleine Scheidegg for SnowpenAir 2019. 200 volunteers were involved. The concert budget is 1.4 million francs. Next year, SnowpenAir will take place on the weekend of 4/5 April 2020 over two days. It will be the last edition of the concert series. “The line-up is already extensive,” says Urs Kessler, founder of SnowpenAir and CEO of Jungfrau Railways. He did not announce the details. He did reveal one thing, however: “We have already been able to sign up one of the bands who, according to a survey, is one of the three most popular among loyal SnowpenAir fans.” Advance sales start on 1 September 2019.
